Better than a Dragon by Nightfoot Better than a Dragon by Nightfoot
Some ocs. The girl's name is Etali, which is a shortening of Etalpalli which means 'wing' and the Quetzalcoatalus is named Ihuitzo (which means 'sky').

Ihuitzo was blinded by a poisoned arrow when he was young, and Etali saved him. He lets her ride him now because she can navigate and it helps her as an archer. Ihuitzo is very distrustful of strangers and if you approach him without Etali he won't put off using those claws on you, although he usually just eats fish. Etali is Lawful Good to the point that she's almost Lawful Stupid.

I've never used coloured pencils before. I coloured it on a whim during art using my friend's pencils.

Gah I spent so much time on the Quetzalcoatlus that the girl's anatomy is terrible.

Yes it is. He's about the size of a giraffe. I don't know what evolutionary advantage a super long neck serves for a flyer, but that's how they look. I think pterasaurs are super awesome 8D

.....I'd say that perhaps he's a vegetarian, but that wouldn't really affect a flier, would it? ^^;

Perhaps it lets it maneuver through trees more easily? Like, it moves its neck like a rudder?

But pterosaurs lived on the coast eating fish, not in forests.

Not all pterosaurs were fish eaters; they were far more diverse than that, and forms like azhdarchids (the one pictured) lived inland

I actually remembered that almost right after posting kicked myself. I did make that correction in a later comment, though.

...ah. Well, we know why it died out: inefficiency.

Pterosaurs were far from inefficient flyers, for they existed over 160 million years

Actually, in a case of Did Not Do the Research, my previous comment was incorrect. *Most* pterasaurs ate fish, but these big huge ones probably lived on the plains and ate small dinosaurs. Still, it wouldn't have lived in forests because with a 30 foot wingspan, trees would be too difficult to navigate. Blah blah blah, I'm a nerd.
